Barcelona Zona Bastarda (VA 2CD Comp./2002)

October 4, 2007 at 12:40 pm (hiphop, jazz, music, rnb, roots, soul)

If I think back, I had a lot of those compilations of the town where I lived and the cities around, crappy pop bullshit and silly hardrock next to each other, but this is different, it gives you a good overview about the Barcelona music scene, from ska, reggae, soul, to rock or electronic. Most of the artist are unknown for me, so I can give you the tracklist, but no further information about the artist, don´t be lazy google it yourself!

Beastie Boys – Sea Bright NJ (Live Bootleg 05/22/92)

September 20, 2007 at 9:32 am (hardcore, hiphop, music)

Today is bootleg time, this is the first of bootleg records I will publish today. Here we have a live bootleg from a Beastie Boys concert in Randy´s Rodeo, NJ in 1992 if you know the history of the Beastie Boys, you will know that this one is not a hardcore to the bone nor a true hiphop record. The quality is fair, if you think that someone recorded the show without permission. I publish also the tracklist, because I couldn´t find it on the net, a cover is also missing.

Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force – Planet Rock (1986)

September 6, 2007 at 7:09 am (hiphop, music)

Planet Rock

Released in 1986 on Tommy Boy Records, you can say, this one is a real classic. Including the famous song “Renegades of Funk” (covered by Rage Against The Machine on their “Renegades” record). “Planet Rock” was one of the first hits in early hiphop days, interesting that this song contains samples of the german industrial band “Kraftwerk” and samples of Ennio Morricone. A true must-have record.

Rock on!

Conscious – Neo Retro Spectro Graphiks Vol.I

August 30, 2007 at 11:50 am (hiphop, music)

“If I ruled the world I’d send Nas back to school, back of the bus with the rest of the coons.”
Said the New York multi-talented artist “Conscious” in his song “Don´t make me angry”, one of the best track on his record “Neo Retro Spectro Graphiks Vol.I”, a record not for the club or to party to, more to sit back, relax and smoke a fine blunt while you´re listening to Conscious and his fellows Thinker, Kaleal Crooks and L-Star. The difference to other artists is, that he really cares about the art aspect of hip-hop. So check also his other projects out:

This is a 1994 Live in Europe piece from the 3 Brooklyn Boys. This is for everyone, for the hc friends and the hiphop lovers, you can hear the raw power of crossover, somewhere between the guidelines.
